Canada Expecting Another Massive Wave Of Migrants At The Border

Toronto Star: Quebec preparing for up to 400 asylum seekers a day at the U.S. border this summer

Between Jan. 1 and April 14 of 2018, 6,074 asylum seekers have arrived in Quebec — three times more than the number of people that crossed the border in 2017.

MONTREAL—Quebec government is demanding that Ottawa come up with a new plan for handling asylum seekers with projections that up to 400 people each day could begin crossing into Canada this summer.

“Last year, we peaked at about 250 a day and that was considered massive,” said Quebec Immigration Minister David Heurtel. “Right now, there are projections on the table saying that we could go in the neighbourhood of 400 people per day.”

The province says it wants the federal government to investigate a suspected trafficking network that is helping refugee claimants — most of them Nigerian — to travel to the United States and sneak across the border into Canada at Roxham Road, which connects New York State with Quebec.

WNU editor: The above Toronto Star article was written over a week ago .... but it is already out of date. I follow this issue very closely because I have helped a number of people over the years who wanted to immigrate to Canada. But what I have seen in just the past week is shocking .... particularly in my part of Montreal. I live a few blocks away from a row of appartment buildings that has always been used a dumping ground for migrants .... and it has been packed since last year. But in the past few weeks a few hundred migrants .... all from Africa and almost all of them men .... have just being dumped in this place. It is an understatement to say how surreal life has become for many who live near these appartments .... to all of a sudden seeing groups of a dozen or more grown men who cannot speak your language just hanging out in front of your home with nothing to do. This is not the Canada that I know .... and there will be political repercussions, starting with the defeat of the Quebec provincial Liberals when they face the voters later this year, and eventually Prime Minister Trudeau whose support in this province is in decline. Blaming this migrant crisis on the opposition party is also not impressing anyone (see above video).

Update: I have been asked what other issues will be impacting Canadian politics this year. That is an easy one .... the explosion in energy prices because of government policies is going to turf out some governments. I know in Ontario (Canada's main province), the Liberal government is going to be exterminated when people go to the polls in June, and the main rason will be sky-high electricity prices .... and yes .... gas prices. In Quebec .... besides migration .... energy prices. Case in point .... I live in Montreal and when Justin Trudeau was elected Prime Minister two and a half years ago the price for a liter of gas was less than a dollar. Tonight .... it is $1.42/liter. The expectation is that it will be over $1.50 by next year. So yeah .... try to win an election on that track-record.

Editor. I live in Ontario. My girlfriend is pretty much on basic government pension so she gets about $1700 per month and pays $30 a month for hydro because of the rebate the Liberal provincial government gives her. A one time provincial payment after filing the income tax return covers the additional gas usage cost of heating her small place. There are many like her who have gained following the defeat of the PCs who were no angels to the less well off folk.

I was glad to see Ford get the nod but now, seeing him in "action" I am not so sure he is a shoe-in.

Bob,
My GF lives outside of Alexandria in eastern Ontario.
She owns a modest home and makes about 3,000/month (before taxes). Her electricity bill is $600/month.
You just made the case on how the Liberals try to buy votes and influence elections, and how they have deeply divided the country.

600 dollars a month...that's astonishing. I live in the western US in a fairly large home and only pay 30 to 40 dollars a month.

Glen,
Our winters are tough. She also heats using electricity. I live in a big home facing the Saint Lawrence river on the island of Montreal. I heat using oil (about $4000 per season), but my electricity bill is $60/month .... and that includes running 3 computers, two fridges, freezer, portable heater in my home office, etc..

My GF was no longer my GF after I landed a decent job. She was the Mrs.

Push comes to shove and gas and electricity rise because of market forces, a person conserves, works harder, or works smarter.

I remember visiting an earth home. Traveled 60 miles to see one. It is not quite practical in a city, but one can adapt to row houses, better R factors or something.

There is no free market when the government puts their thumb on the scales so much.

If BK loves a welfare system rigged by politicians to buy votes so much, I have a solution. We Cloward & Piven Canada. We do what the Mexican government does. We give people who illegally cross the border 3 weeks to make it North to Canada. We would be be copying Mexican law, so how could that be racist?

We could easily grow Canada's population to 300 million. I wonder if BK could or with only 3 or 4 hours of sleep a day. After all somebody would need to work virtually around the clock to support 20,000 a year pensions for all the illegals we could ship to Canada.

Don't think it can be done?

It has been done.

California accuse Nevada of giving people bus fare to California,w here they could collect higher welfare payments.

So you might say this has been field tested.

All we have to do is to scale or ramp it up.
